The Swedish Society for Museum Education is a voluntary body, established in 1971. Membership is open to all who are concerned with museum education in Sweden.
The aims of the society are:
to promote contacts between colleagues in museum education both in Sweden and internationally
to increase public awareness of museum education
to improve the status of museum education
To achieve these aims the society:
organizes an annual seminar where focus is on pedagogics
organizes an annual conference on a topical subject
hands out an annual prize for best pedagogical project in a Swedish museum
Arranges a seminar at the spring conference held by Swedish Museum Association
holds regional meetings
maintains contacts with the government and regional authorities
is active in forming public opinion
